The four emphasis strategies are visual communication, signposts, foreshadowing and internal summaries, and repetition. All of these emphasis strategies are effective in verbal communication. Repetition can be used artfully for helping the audience to retain their memory. On the other hand, foreshadowing is helpful for keeping a track in the communication process. Through internal summaries and foreshadowing, there can be a review in the communication. Signposts can be considered as tangential explanation and both the readers and listeners can use signpost in the communication process (McLean, 2010).
